Captain Tanners Wines Claret Shropshire League 2002

Tony Poole as taken on the role as Tanners Claret Shropshire League Captain for this 2002 season.  Its been a well known fact that Tony as been suffering with a shoulder & knee injury for the last couple of seasons & has decided to take this on. He as recruited George Wainwright out of retirement to play some games this season & Tony Fardo is another who is coming back to play, This Team is now looking in a far better position to mount a challenge to the vacant space left by the promoted Ford & so hope we make `Cornerman` eat his pre-season roundup words....

Not off to the best start with Dave Wycherley getting is first taste of the Tanners Wines losing out at 15/21 & Tony Poole coming up against in form Clare Williams, good wins from Callum Wraight & Phil Whatmough taking it to two apiece

It was good to see Tony Fardoe getting back on the green & winning 21/4, Alan Rogers, Steve Rogers & Gary Walker will have to get down the green a bit more often to improve on these results, three five down after eight.

George Wainwright showed some of the good bowls he is capable of given some practice, some steady play by the two regulars in Tapper Thomas & Tony Parry, all those Sunday night games proved useful & Pete Walker rushing on the green from work lost out 15/21

In this early part of the season Captain Tony Poole will look to see is side improving as time goes by, on paper a good strong squad & now have to pull it together on the green.
