Callum Wraight 13/21 Phil Chew   Steve Jones 17/21 Jeff Bellshaw

A disappointing result for Captain Sid Davies, after a good start which at one stage seen all cards were up but the Meole lads kept in there & fought back to make it two across after four.

In the middle George had a bad game & Steve Peach played no better making it four apiece after eight so going into the last two with Callum not getting them as close as he can losing 13 against Phil Chew & Steve Jones, who watched by is parents wished he could of played better losing 17 against the experienced Jeff Bellshaw, final score lost 8 - 4

Tuesday 21st May 02 Away To Perkins

Won 9 - 3

This was a great result for Captain Sid Davis, given the large green & the weather he would have settled for three or four before the start so to come away winning 9/3 was excellent, this team is now settling down for the season & even have bowlers on the side of the green turning up for a game, with next weeks home to the Bricklayers, Sid is a happy bunny at the moment.

Steve Peach 21/19 Graham Parry Eric Wycherley 21/20 Herbie Bowdon
Phil Whatmough 21/15 John Granville Arron Peach 20/21 Mark Hill

Dave Croft did not let new dad Dave Peach off the hook winning 21/3 Eric Wycherly was taken to the wire 21/20 against Herbie Bowden George Marston starts off the winning way at 21/18 against Geoff Davies Jack Cheadle found that Scott Newlands was to much on the night losing 21/9

Tuesday 14th May 02 Home To Battlefield B

Lost 5 - 7

Captain Sid Davies was disappointed losing to Battlefield with only one winner in the first four it was always going to be a struggle but the middle four fought back & Steve Peach rushing back from Leominster managed to share the coppers with Granddad Eric Wycherley, this pushed the score closer & needing the back to too win & snatch the aggregate was on the cards but it was not to be, myself playing for the unavailable Dave Peach & Phil Whatmough found a good mark for Dave Cadwallder & then could not get him off it losing out 5 & at number ten Callum Wraight who raced off & was up 14 when John Gregson played some great bowls to run out 21/19, this was Callum first home defeat in twelve months & it was to a better bowler on the night.
Eric Wycherley 21/14 D.Hilford Scott Newland 2/21 Harold Banks
Andrew Marshall 16/21 Jim Lord Arron Peach 16/21 Ian Rose

Speaking to the vistors in the Telegraph they were like they had won the final, never before had they managed to win at Castlefields, just goes to show how things are changing.....

Tues 30th April Away to Pontesbury

Lost 1 -11

Captain Paul Davies was hoping that with the amount of rain we were having it would even up the green but as it turned out it made little difference to the Pontesbury team.

In the pouring rain saw only one winner in the first four from Dave Peach at 21/19 against Doug Lavern & the middle was even worse in straight wins for the home side which saw the Club President Allan Rogers stepping in to make up the numbers.  We could only produce one more player at number nine with yours truly, getting 15 against the experienced Barry Lawrence.

We all know it is difficult to compete when live European football is on the TV but you would think that with all the players at Castlefields we would be able to field a full side.  I am afraid it is a another sign of the times when people would rather stay in watching TV than getting out & playing sport, they must lead SAD lives...

Tues 23rd April Home to Greenfields A

Won 9/3 190 /158

This years Captain Paul Davies was delighted with this start to the season, as well as two bowlers joining from the Reserve B side, in Ivor Wainwright & Steve Jones, he can also call on the experience of the 2001 Junior County Merit winner in youngest Andrew Marshall, who has good pedigree coming from Severnside & already showing is form by taking the coppers on this opening night. So Sid is looking good this year & when no one is away he will have a strong side.
Grandad Eric Wycherley Not off to the best start but at least he as a go.. Game2.jpg (18613 bytes) Young Dave Peach spotting the camera & Posing?
Steve Jones from last years B Team on the way to winning 21/16 against Brian Marshall../ Arron Peach getting down to work against John Wall & finally winning 21/17 Phil Whatmough & Clude West waiting for the tapes, well worth the wait for Phil as he won this end & the game 21/13.
